Power of We
Persuasive Essay-
Post Secondary Education Should be in Part Paid for by
the Government.
In order
for our world to grow and prosper we need education. It is absolutely essential
to the development of individual people and improvement of communities. The
rising cost of post-secondary education in Canada has become a burden and a
deterrent to people of all ages who wish to achieve a higher level of
education. If the cost of school were not so high more people would pursue it.
Education
should be more easily accessible to people who want it and are willing to work
hard for it. I recently graduated high school and a lot of people in my grade
were faced with a big decision to make. Do they enroll in university and start
adding up thousands of dollars in student loans? Or do they start working a
minimum wage job full time? Sadly most of them chose to start working with the
plan of returning to school in the future. Unfortunately after a year of being
out of school people become less likely to go back. This ends up having an affect on the whole
community whether or not it is immediately noticeable.
Costs
should be lowered so that the communities do not feel this burden. Look at any
place in the world that is suffering economical and ethical strain. Often these
places are areas where education is not given a high priority. Under educated
areas could benefit largely by putting an emphasis on the importance of
learning in everyone’s lives. In underdeveloped countries this knowledge would
make a huge difference to the quality of life. Although in a country like
Canada it may not be as drastic of a change it would defiantly be seen.
Part of my
education from when I was in kindergarten up until now (first year university)
has been getting together and talking with people, discussing ideas, exploring
people’s different views, and brainstorming. Discussing ideas with people in
class is an amazing learning tool. When people get together and have these
sessions of thinking, ideas are born and perfected very quickly due to the help
of many minds. There is most defiantly power in numbers.
The Power
of We means to me that people come together to better our world and make
positive changes. If more people had access to a higher education we could
greatly increase the amount of good “brainstorming” that could happen. As of now in Canada many people choose not to
achieve this education simply because they cannot afford it. College and
university should be partly paid for by the government. Even though this would
be extremely costly, after several years it would be a very positive attribute
to our world.
